“Armenian audience is strict and open-armed”
Israel Ashdod Symphony Orchestra’s conductor, the pianist Vahagn Papyan, who has performed numerously in Geneva, Moscow, Ottawa, Toronto, an other cities, arrived in Armenia to perform within the Reappearance Festival.
“I haven’t performed in Armenia since 1998 as there were no invitations,” said the pianist. Mentioning city’s appearance Vahagn Papyan said he didn’t’ recognize the city.
“I like new Yerevan. Sure, everyone loves the city remained in-memory, but we admire beautiful cities anyway.”
He expressed surprise at tumultuous cultural life of Yerevan, and when asked what orchestra he would prefer to perform in Armenia said – good enough and desirable not expensive.
“There are very good orchestras here in Armenia. I remember Armenian audience; it is strict and open-armed.”
When asked what program he would like to perform in Armenia, he said that since his busy schedule he can’t carry into effect many new projects, but if he has an invitation for next year he will surely come.
Vahagn Papyan and State Youth Orchestra of Armenia will provide a concert on October 24 at Concert Hall aft. Aram Khachaturyan.
