Exploitation of Amberd-1 small HEP

In Aragatsotn region in the neighborhood of Orgov over the Ampur and Amberd rivers small hydroelectric power plants are being constructed. Soon Amberd 1, 2 and then 3 will be given for exploitation. The program is being implemented by “Amberd HEP” CJSC and the German EnBW Trading GmbH.

As the “Amberd HEP” CJSC informed to Aysor.am that “Amberd HEP 1” was to be given for exploitation on April 2009, Amderd 2 on August, and Amberd 3 on April 2010, but because of the financial economic crises the construction processes have been kept back a little.

The general power of the project is 11.54mVt. The project consists of 3 degrees of HEP. The power of the first station is 2.4mVT, the second one’s 4.27mVT, and the third one is 4.87mVt. As a result of implementation of the project the produced energy will be sold to the “Armenian Power Plant”.

The authors of the project assert that the exploitation of Amberd HEP will not have bad influence over the quality of the river's water and the quality of the people living around.
