Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan the RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs
On November 23 President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on releasing Gevorg Petrosyan from the position of Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.
According to another presidential decree, Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, President’s Press Office reported.
Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan was born on June 16, 1950 in Sevan. In 1972 he graduated from the Medical faculty of Yerevan State Medical Institute, and in 1984 – the High School of the administrative officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. Doctor, Candidate of medical sciences. He worked in the Sevan regional hospital as a surgeon and as an expert of inter-regional forensic medicine (Aparan-Aragats). He has also worked as the head of hospital in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, administrative director at the Red Cross International Rehabilitation Centre and general director. In 2001 he was elected President of the Armenian Red Cross Company.
On May 12, 2007 he was elected as deputy of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia Party electoral list.
Since December 6, 2007 he was elected Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs.
Mkhitar Mkhitaryan is an honoured professor of Moscow Academy of European University, honoured professor of European University, academician of International Academy of Spiritual Unity of the World’s People, real member of RF medical-technical academy, member of RF Academy of Natural Sciences, Chairman of the Inter-Governmental Commission for Fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in Armenia.
He is married and has two children.
