According to police, the official was robbed of his mobile by a young man who had asked him for a phone to call somewhere. As soon as the ambassador gave him a phone, the robber disappeared.
It’s worth mentioning that there were other cases of crime against foreign officials and diplomats in Azerbaijan. On December 21 2009 a robbery happened at the Administrative office of the Brazil Embassy in Azerbaijan, in Narinamovsky District of Baku.
It was reported that 3 thousand mantas, or nearly $ 2400, were stolen from the office of ambassador’s administrative assistant Mushfig Javadov.
