Death toll of the earthquake in Turkey reaches 41
Death toll of the earthquake that hit eastern Turkey on Monday reached 41, according to report by the Associated Press.
A strong earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 6, hit eastern Turkey, leaving 41 people dead and knocking down houses in at least three small villages.
The Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute said the quake measured 6.0 magnitude on the Richter scale with epicenter near the village of Basyurt. The quake was followed by more than 20 aftershocks, the strongest measuring 4.1, according to Istanbul's Kandilli Observatory seismology center.
