Death toll of the earthquake in Turkey reaches 57
Death toll of the earthquake that hit eastern Turkey on Monday reached 57, according to reports by the Turkish officials.
A strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 6, hit eastern Turkey on Monday, leaving 57 people dead and knocking down houses in at least three small villages.
The quake was followed by more than 20 aftershocks, the strongest measuring 4.1, according to Istanbul's Kandilli Observatory seismology center.
The 14 million people living in Istanbul are waiting for another strong quake. Experts say the quake can strike at any time. Turkey’s authorities say they are taking measures to secure the population of the city.
