Armenian – Romanian ties are important
Armenia’s Ambassador to Romania Yeghishe Sargsyan had a meeting with the President of Romania Trian Basescu, informs the press and public relations department of the MFA.
During the meeting Trian Basescu emphasized the importance of the relations between Armenia and Romania and expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for his activity targeted at the development of bilateral ties and expansion of cooperation.
The two expressed confidence that President Serzh Sargsyan’s scheduled visit to Romania would greatly contribute to the further development of the Armenian-Romanian cooperation.
At the request of President Basescu, Ambassador Sargsyan presented the latest developments in the process of settlement of the Karabakh issue and the efforts targeted at the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations.
The outgoing Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Romanian authorities for the support and cooperation throughout his tenure in office. On the meeting with the Mirchea Jeoana, the president of Senate, the two sides mentioned importance of the bilateral inter-parliamentary ties.
On the farewell meeting of Yeghishe Sargsyan and the Romanian Patriarch Daniel they also spoke about the traditional ties between the Armenian and Romanian churches.
