'Medal' for killing Caesar goes on display at British Museum
A unique gold coin will go on display at the British Museum Monday, March 15, timed to the 2,054th anniversary of Julius Caesar’s death, since he was struck down at the Senate, stabbed 23 times, in 44BC, the Guardian reports.
The coin shows the head of Brutus on one side and two daggers and the date, on the other.
There are about 60 coins of such kind, survived and kept mostly in private collections and private museums. All of them are silver, but two ones (including the one on a display at the British Museum). However, experts say, that there is the only single golden coin (to be displayed at BM), while the second reported one is a fabrication.
