US Ambassador criticizes fake report by Imedi channel

U.S. Ambassador to Georgia criticized in an interview on TV the fake report, played out in a terrifyingly realistic scenario on Georgian television over the weekend, causing widespread panic in the country.

Georgia’s Imedi television channel broadcast a fake report about Russian invasion of the country and killing of President Mikheil Saakashvili.

“This doesn’t contribute to strengthening of security in the country and is just irresponsible,” said U.S. Ambassador. “This goes wrong with norms of journalism,” he pointed.
