European men&women's chess champs in Rijeka over
The European Individual men&women's chess championship, held in Croatia’s Rijeka, ended, bringing victory to Russia’s Ian Nepomniachtchi among men and Sweden’s Cramling Pia on the top among women.
Armenia’s Vladimir Akopian had all chances to win the champion’s title; however, after losing set with Ian Nepomniachtchi, Vladimir Akopian seeded the 16th. Russian chess player at 9 points tops the tournament table and wins champion’s title.
Best result among Armenian men players was shown by Arman Pashikian, who won over Berg and at 8 points joined tournament’s top-10s.
Cramling Pia wins women’s championship, earning 9 points; Armenia’s Lilit Galoyan lost to Muzychuk Anna and at 6,5 points seeded 29th.
