Brazil's President fined for campaigning
Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was fined $2,800 for campaigning on behalf of his chosen successor last year while inaugurating a government-built sports complex.
The fine refers to a political rally that took place in Rio do Janeiro in May 2009 when President Lula da Silva called to the hundreds gathered for the opening of a public works “to support and vote for Dilma Rousseff in the coming election”.
