Potato prices will become stable by autumn, says Minister
Armenia’s agricultural sector showed decline mostly in vegetables and plants, while in producing meat it showed growth [this year], Armenia’s Minister of Agriculture Gerasim Alaverdian told media on Monday.
He said that the fall in producing vegetables was caused by adverse weather conditions and due to them the agricultural season this year started a month later.
Referring to the growth of potato prices, Alaverdian said that last year the producers had problems related to realization of potato, while this year the issue is solved and Armenian-produced potato is exporting to Georgia, Iran and other countries.
Gerasim Alaverdian said hopes that potato prices will become stable by the autumn, as “the potato seeds are sowed on territories of 28,000-30,000 ha and this promises a good harvest of 500 tones.”
