Armenian opposition is exhausted, say analysts
Armenian opposition should rethink its own activities as it is obvious that it has already exhausted itself, told media a political analyst and director of the Armenian Branch of the Institute of CIS nations, Aleksandr Markarov.
He said that political developments showed that artificial unions, established by various forces and for a single goal to oppose the authorities, didn’t work.
“As regards to the authorities then they are still quite weak and are ready to realize the goals which were declared ahead of the elections,” said the analyst.
Another expert, political analyst Ervand Bozoyan said that “the acting opposition has exhausted itself and people have not expectations linked to the opposition.”
“The authorities, actually, have implemented the steps that were declared by opposition, in particular, fast solution to the Karabakh conflict and normalisation of Armenia-Turkey relations,” said Ervand Bozoyan. He added: “As a result, it was found that neither one nor another issue can be solved quickly; this once more shows that opposition’s ideology has been exhausted.”
He said is sure that under current situation there is a need to form a new power, which will become a real opposition and will introduce alternative solutions. “Whether such a force will be established or not, I don’t know; however, the Armenian public at the back of its mind feels the necessity to form a new political force,” he added.
