A year after the pre-signing of the Armenian-Turkish protocols
“One year of the pre-signing of the protocols is an occasion to remember that we have always warned that this process will not promote the improvement of the Armenian – Turkish relations, will not bring to opening of the borders and the tension in our region will not decrease, just on the contrary Turkey will use this opportunity to enter into the region, which, actually happened,” political scientist Ervand Bozoyan said on the meeting with the journalists today.
According to the political scientist the fact of the pre-signing of the protocols “was an advice and an example what should be done in order not to repeat such mistakes next time.”
On the press conference political analyst Alexander Markarov suggested to observe the issue from another viewpoint and mentioned that after the pre-signing of protocols discussions on developing Armenian – Turkish relation in the closest future are being held more frequently.
“We can’t deny that Turkey has become an active player in the region, but in the same time the Russian – Azerbaijani cooperation has become more active. That is to say Azerbaijan perceives Russia as a closer political and in some cases strategic companion, the reflection of which is visible also over the Russian – Turkish relations,” A. Markarov noticed.
The processes connected the Armenian – Turkish relations brought to the idea that “Armenia has shown its positive disposition, to hold negotiations without preconditions, while the Turkish side depends on the Azerbaijani disposition.”
