Bako Sahakyan: “Azerbaijan’s efforts impede negotiation process”

On September 2, President of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan attended solemn events dedicated to the Day of the Artsakh Republic.

Head of state visited the Memorial Complex in the capital and laid flowers to the tombs of freedom fighters perished for the independence and freedom of the Motherland and the first speaker of the National Assembly Arthur Mkrtchyan, Artsakh President’s press office reported.

Answering a question on recent developments in the conflict settlement process, the President noted that Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at adopting various documents and resolutions in different international structures only impede the negotiation process and cannot have any impact on our position.

“The people of Artsakh made their decision on September 2, 1991, confirmed it on December 10, 1991 referendum, defended independence and freedom of Artsakh during the imposed war and reconfirmed it once again on December 10, 2006 by adopting the Constitution,” Bako Sahakyan said.

Subsequently, in capital Stepanakert the President attended solemn ceremonies of unveiling a monument to double hero of the Soviet Union Nelson Stepanyan and the “Dandelion” sculpture composition symbolizing peace.

The same day Bako Sahakyan visited Stepanakert military hospital where he awarded the medal “For Courage” to Defense Army’s private Roudik Manaseryan who recovers there after being wounded during combat activities.
