“Medvedev visits Baku to calm down Azerbaijan”
RPA parliamentary faction member Gagik Melikyan commenting upon Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Azerbaijan said: “The Armenian-Russian relations having a centuries-old history and established traditions, entered a new stage by Russian President’s state visit to Armenia which resulted in a series of agreements on further expansion of the relations and signing of important documents.”
While Medvedev’s visit to Baku is not state but official, its level is lower than Medvedev’s visit to Armenia, Melikyan stressed.
“Thus, we can see the difference between Armenian-Russian and Russian-Azerbaijani relations. Medvedev’s visit to Azerbaijan is rather aimed at calming down anti-Russian hysteria in Azerbaijan. Russia and Azerbaijan will sign just two documents during the visit,” parliamentarian said in his remarks.
