Smirnov: It will take at least 10 years to resolve NKR conflict
“I am convinced many experts compare the situation in Karabakh with Cyprus, Kashmir with their sluggish conflicts. The international community keeps announcing it will do its utmost to resolve the conflicts, but there is no progress in that issue,” Director of the Russian Institute of Political Sociology Vyacheslav Smirnov told day.az news agency.
According to the expert, no breakthrough should be expected after Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visits to Armenia and Azerbaijan. Smirnov expressed confidence that Russia will spare no effort to prevent escalation of the Karabakh conflict.
“I think it will take at least 10 years to resolve the conflict,” he noted.
Smirnov stressed that Russia is against military resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
