Obama extends economic sanctions against Cuba for a year
The United States has extended economic sanctions against Cuba for one year in line with the Authorities under the Trading with the Enemy Act.
According to the statement released by the White House, President Obama said he determines “that the continuation for 1 year of the exercise of those authorities with respect to Cuba is in the national interest of the United States.”
The sanctions against Cuba are continued for 1 year until September 14, 2011. The one-sided embargo against Cuba was imposed in effect since 1961.
