First-ever conference on social partnership in Yerevan

The first-ever national conference on social partnership will be held in Yerevan on September 29, announced at today’s press conference Executive Director of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, Gagik Makarian. 

“Three parts – the government, the Union of Employers, and the Confederation of Labor Unions – will act within the partnership presenting the highlights and the European experience which can be used in Armenia,” said Makarian. He said that the guides of the conference will be published as separate handbooks.

Among conference’s attendees are expected representatives of German and Dutch Unions of Businessmen and the Labor Unions.

“Today the government attaches importance to the private sector and seeks for a close cooperation. The methods of the past when the government was trying to make own decisions on how to control the businesses have already exhausted themselves. It’s necessary to cooperate from principle of consensus, as the positive results of such kind of cooperation are shown in various countries,” said Makarian.
