Next year proclaimed Aleksandr Mantashev’s year
On the occasion of the 170th birth anniversary of the greatest Armenian banker, manufacturer, millionaire, maecenas and donator Aleksandr Mantashev (Aleksandr Mantashyants), the upcoming 2011 year will be proclaimed as “The Year of Aleksandr Mantashev,” told media at today’s news conference Chairman of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, Arsen Kazarian. The year will coincide with the centenary of the death of Aleksandr Mantashev.
Arsen Kazarian told media that in the nearest months a special commission will be established to organise a schedule for events and programs on the occasion of the Aleksandr Mantashev Year. By this year’s end a reprinted book by Arakel Sarukhanian featuring Mantashev death’s 20th anniversary will be presented.
“We continue working over the moral code of the businessman. And in this sense – of determining the moral image of a businessman - we attach a special importance to our historical past and to studying our heritage,” said Arsen Kazarian.
Within the framework of the Year, various works featuring Aleksandr Mantashev’s biography and life will be published; Aleksandr Mantashev’s bust will be placed; and a science conference entitled “The 21st Century: Image of an Armenian Businessman, of a New Maecenas” will be held gathering together businessmen from Armenia and Armenian Communities (Diaspora).
