Norsk Energi to support SHPP Technical Capacity Building Program
Norwegian Norsk Energi in assistance with international supporters is launching a 4-month Norwegian-Armenian SHPP Technical Capacity Building Program, aimed at development of small hydropower stations in Armenia. The program’s cost is 180,000 euros. The financial support is provided by Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among supporters are Ameriabank, Armenia’s Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Environmental Conservation, the KfW Programme to Promote Renewable Energies, and the Yerevan State Architecture and Construction University.
Program’s Chief, Hyun Ju Yun, said at today’s presentation that the specialists will pass the retraining courses within 4 months. He said that there will be delivered reports and designs of the projects to develop small hydro power plants in Armenia. The reports and projects are to be presented on December 14 to investors.
“The program has 5 stages, of these three are active: seminars and programs of cooperation between students and hydro power stations’ owners are put on schedule. Due to the Armenian-Norwegian cooperation, new programs will be designed,” he said and added that the program’s special focus is on ecological issues.
Armenian partner of the program, director of HydroEnergy Company Grigor Gabayan said that program’s realization will bring into being the establishment of a classic small hydro power station.
The presentation of the Norwegian-Armenian SHPP Technical Capacity Building Program was attended by Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Areg Galstyan, Norway’s Consul to Armenia Timothy Strait, Ameriabank CEO Artak Anesian and representatives of the state offices and private sector.
