Manasyan: Present-day Azerbaijan has no legitimate borders
Today, during the presentation of the book “Nagorno Karabakh: That's how it happened” the author of the book, Professor Alexander Manasyan spoke of the Nagorno Karabakh issue. He noted that we have not broken the borders of the geographic Nagorno-Karabakh territories, and according to him, the legitimacy of our borders and the fact that the borders of Azerbaijan are not legitimate is being forgotten.
"The borders are driven from the self-determination act. No legitimate self-determination has taken place in the present-day Azerbaijan, neither in 1918, nor in 1920 and nor in 1991," stressed the speaker and said that modern Azerbaijan has no legitimate borders, especially that returned to the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1918-20, and which had no borders at all, neither recognized, nor established.
"The concept of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is not applicable for Azerbaijan today as well. Today too the Republic of Azerbaijan from the point of view of both territorial integrity and the legitimacy of the borders is not a legitimate state," Alexander Manasyan said.
As for the Nagorno Karabakh, the speaker noticed that Nagorno Karabakh from the point of view of the international law has been formed "in a completely legitimate way."
Noting that one of the most democratic Republics in the post-Soviet region is Nagorno Karabakh Republic, A. Manasyan, stated that " the highest ideals of democracy are blockaded” and in NKR are being held elections which have caused the surprise of the observers from the West exceeding even the standards of the European elections."
"And despite all of that, the Nagorno Karabakh Republic is not recognized ...," Alexander Manasyan noticed with regret.
