His Holiness Karekin II extends condolences to Pope Benedict XVI

His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, sent a letter of condolence to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for innocent victims of the terrorist attack on the Syriac Catholic cathedral in Baghdad committed on November 1. 

According to the Information Services of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the letter, in particular, said:

“Calling on Iraqi authorities to maintain rights and freedoms of Christian minorities we harshly condemn this unacceptable act as a deliberate step towards kindling inter-religious hatred in the country where for centuries, Moslems and Christians have lived in peace and consent.”
