An International Conference entitled “The Crime of Genocide: Prevention, Condemnation and Elimination of Consequences” has just kicked off in Yerevan.
The conference is dedicated to the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. It hosts scientists from over 20 countries, including such renowned genocide scholars as Yves Ternon, Leandro Despouy, Israel Charny, William Shabas, Taner Akçam, Tessa Hoffman, Frank Chalk.
President Serzh Sargsyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian addressed the conference opening.
The conference will close on December 15.
“One of the key achievements of the project implemented with UNDP/GEF support is the inclusion and support of extra-curricular environmental education as a strategic approach. This was a direct result of the series of roundtables jointly organized with EEN members and policymakers,” adds Sahakyan.
