National Archives of Armenia open for Turkey
The National Archives of Armenia are open for everyone, irrespective of nationality, Director of the Archives Amatuni Virabyan told reporters.
350 million documents related to modern Armenian history are kept in the National Archives of Armenia.
According to A. Virabyan, a Turkish specialist currently conducts study in the National Archives of Armenia. He is interested in the history of Kars.
“They are reserved in the issue of Genocide, though they study this issue,” the expert said.
He noted that he periodically meets with his Turkish colleagues who also invite Armenian specialists to visit Turkish archives. However, even if Turkish archives are opened for Armenia, Armenian specialists will face the Ottoman Turkish language problem.
The National Archives of Armenia contain more than 10,000 documents dating from 1914-1915 – testimony of Armenian Genocide survivors, A. Virabyan said.
