Russia imposes sanctions on Libya
Russia has imposed sanctions against Libya. According to the Kremlin’s press service, President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree earlier today on complying with the UN Security Council resolution of March 17th.
The decree bans Libyan planes from flying over Russia wherever they may be heading, with the exception of aircraft that make flights for humanitarian purposes or crash-land. Russian naval ships have been allowed to search out at sea the vessels that make for or sail from the Jamahiriya.
Medvedev’s decree bans transactions involving financial assets of the Muammar Gaddafi family and his inner circle, and imposes restrictions for some Libyan officials on entering Russia or crossing Russian territory, the Voice of Russia said.
