150 thousand out of 250 thousand have breast cancer
Khachanush Hakobyan, the head of the Armenian – American health center and head of the radiology department Ani Hakobian presented the rates of cancer cases that were registered during the last 15 years the of the work of the center. They also touched upon ways of preventing the disease.
This is a problem that exists in all over the world, in Armenia as well, Kh. Hakobyan mentioned. She found positive the fact that the Armenian women have become more careful towards their health. They come for medical examination more frequently.
“The more patients we have the sooner cancer will be prevented. The disease has concealed stages and makes no signs of existence, no pain. Person cannot suspect even that the disease can exist in his organism. It is only the doctor who can disclose it,” Kh. Hakobyan mentioned.
250 thousand patients have been examined during the 15 years of existence of the Armenian – American health center of which 150 thousand have underwent breast cancer examination. Seven thousand have been diagnosed as having breast cancer.
83 thousand of the patients who underwent medical examination had benign tumor.
The speakers also mentioned that this disease is common with the men as well. 520 men have undergone medical examination in the center most of them have been diagnosed as having benign tumor and 22 malignant tumor.
