Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her 60th anniversary of reigning
Queen Elizabeth II marked her Diamond Jubilee on Monday with a message thanking all those who had supported her over her 60-year reign.
The Queen has said she is dedicating herself "anew to your service", as she marks the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne, the BBC reports.
The Queen, 85, usually spends Accession Day - the day her father, George VI, died in 1952 - privately but this year has two engagements in Norfolk.
Before a year's worth of festivities to celebrate her milestone, the queen said she and her husband have been "deeply moved" to receive so many kind messages about her Diamond Jubilee, the Huffington Post reported.
"In this special year, as I dedicate myself anew to your service, I hope that we will all be reminded of the power of togetherness and the convening strength of family, friendship and good neighborliness, examples of which I have been fortunate to see throughout my reign," Elizabeth II said in her message.
