Arzumanian: In case of Abrahamian, BHK won’t criticize cabinet so sharply
Hovik Abrahamian’s appointment as prime minister of Armenia was not unexpected: Abrahamian was mentioned as a likely candidate since PM Tigran Sargsyan’s resignation. Parliamentary deputy Alexander Arzumanian expressed such an opinion at a press conference today.
“So we will wait and see what kind of government the new one is. I think the problem lies not in the person of the prime minister, but in the system’s change – it should be changed completely so that we could overcome the current situation,” Arzumanian noted, adding that an assessment can be made only after the new government’s composition and its program are announced.
According to him, Tigran Sargsyan’s resignation had nothing to do with the activities and demands of the four non-coalition parties – ARFD, Armenian National Congress (HAK), Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), and Heritage Party.
“It was obvious that at some point the prime minister would be sacrificed because in the last 6 years the government has not registered any progress,” Arzumanian said.
As regards the formation of a possible coalition, he noted that having declared itself an alternative, BHK considered the government and prime minister as its main target.
“In case of Hobik Abrahamian, the issue cannot be so acute for BHK party because Abrahamian is an acceptable figure to that political force, therefore a compromise has been found for the sides. IF BHK enters the coalition, it will rapidly compromise itself,” he said.
According to him, Hovik Abrahamian is a man ready to make compromises and he may find the right decision concerning the compulsory component of the accumulative pension scheme.
