HAK issues statement over appointment of Hovik Abrahamian
Armenian National Congress (HAK) has issued a statement over the appointment of Hovik Abrahamian as prime minister of Armenia.
“A complex political situation has emerged in Armenia. Thanks to the ultimatum of the four non-coalition parliamentary forces – HAK, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun, Prosperous Armenia and Heritage Parties, Serzh Sargsyan had to relieve Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan of his post. On April 13 Serzh Sargsyan appointed Hovik Abrahamian as prime minister. In this connection HAK presents its approaches,” the statement notes.
According to the statement, HAK believes that the whole political majority – the Republican Party of Armenia led by Serzh Sargsyan bears responsibility for failures of the authorities. “We should not await the government’s formation and presentation of its programs so as to express our attitude to the new government,” HAK said in its statement.
HAK believes that “the corrupt authorities of Armenia are unable to implement any development program and they lost their right to form a government”.
“We do not reject the prime minister or a minister or a program submitted by them, but we deny the right of the whole majority to form a government in Armenia. So, in our opinion, the main task of the opposition political forces in Armenia – the four non-coalition forces - shoul be removal of the regime,” the statement says.
In this situation HAK reaffirms its readiness and determination to continue – in the format of the four parties - joint efforts and cooperation aimed at the change of power.
