Political engineer: Hovik Abrahamian is most suitable candidate
Interesting developments are expected in the internal political life of Armenia following the resignation of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, political engineer Karen Kocharian said at a press conference today.
In his words, Hovik Abrahamian’s candidacy is acceptable to everyone. “The selection of Hovik Abrahamian was not unexpected to anyone. If we take into account the whole political field, Hovik Abrahamian is the most suitable candidate,” Kocharian told journalists.
According to him, negotiations were conducted during this period. “The question is not whether Prosperous Armenia Party will enter the coalition or not. I am sure there is a general agreement,” he declared.
“I don’t think Gagik Tsarukian told Serzh Sargysn that they should not rely on him. I don’t know what kind of agreement they have reached, but there is evidently an agreement because Hovik Abrahamian’s candidacy was approved after that,” Kocharian noted.
Speaking about cooperation of the four non-coalition parties, Karen Kocharian said that although Levon Ter-Petrosian warned them against engaging in political games, they have already began to do it.
“I can’t tell if they will enter the coalition or not, but it’s obvious that they are already engaged in political games, otherwise Hovik Abrahamian would not become prime minister,” the political engineer said.
As for the further steps of the prime minister, Karen Kocharian stressed there is a serious situation in Armenia. “The country needs a ‘crisis manager’ capable of setting the country on its feet, rather than a prime minister acceptable to everyone. Each sphere needs a leading manager who can help the country move forward and whose opinion is taken into account. Only then can we overcome the crisis situation in the country,” Karen Kocharian said.
