Shirinian: Prime minister is manager implementing president’s program
A prime minister is, in fact, a manager implementing the program of the country’s president, political scientist Levon Shirinian told reporters today, when commenting on the domestic political developments in Armenia.
In his words, a noise was made following the prime minister’s resignation, whereas in reality there will be no serious changes in the cabinet. “Such a stir was created as if someone whose past is unknown to people would become prime minister after Tigran Sargsyan,” Shirinian noted.
According to him, nothing will change in Armenia if society does not display political activity, with a program of radical reforms being presented.
“Our tragedy lies in the fact that there are no independent trade unions in Armenia. Now we have to wait for the prime minister to present his program so as to realize what awaits us,” Shirinian noted.
In conclusion, the political scientist said the new prime minister needs to solve the problem of political confidence and restore people’s faith in the authorities.
On Sunday, April 13 President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on the appointment of Hovik Abrahamian as Armenian prime minister. The candidacy of the Armenian parliamentary speaker Hovik Abrahamian for the post of prime minister was nominated by Armenian President, chairman of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Serzh Sargsyan at the sitting of the HHK Executive Body and Board on Sunday.
