S. Sargsyan: EU remains one of Armenia’s important partners
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today member of the European Parliament, deputy chairman of the EU-Armenia Friendship Group Frank Engel, according to the presidential press service.
President Sargsyan emphasized the importance of an active dialog with the European community, saying that it gives a positive impulse to Armenia-EU relationship. In his words, such meetings create a good opportunity for discussing the development prospects of Armenia-EU relations and exchanging views on the problems and challenges facing Armenia.
The president stressed that the European Union was and remains one of Armenia’s important partners and cooperation between Armenia and the EU is based first of all on a common value system.
He expressed his gratitude to the EU-Armenia Friendship Group for its constant readiness to assist Armenia and its activities aimed at strengthening the links between Armenia and the EU.
Serzh Sargsyan assured the interlocutor that there have been no changes in the foreign-policy agenda of Armenia and the country is determined to continue with institutional reforms forming the basis of its relations with the European Union.
The sides also discussed regional problems and challenges. In this context Serzh Sargsyan stressed that a peaceful resolution of regional conflicts is essential for the Eastern Partnership and that Armenia will continue to make efforts on a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group’s framework.
