“I’m against’ initiative to keep struggling until result is achieved
The members of ‘I am against’ civil initiative refuse to cooperate with the Armenian authorities on drafting a new law on accumulative pensions until the decision of the Constitutional Court takes effect, the initiative member David Manukian told reporters today.
He said ‘I am against’ civil initiative will continue its struggle.
Speaking about the protest staged yesterday outside the Armenian president’s residence and the meeting with new Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamian, the member of ‘I am against’ initiative said that Abrahamian was presented with demands concerning the Constitutional Court decision.
“Hovik Abrahamian plans to apply to the National Assembly only in connection with fines’ calculation, but we demand removal of all the clauses related to the automatic choice of pension funds and their managers,” David Manukian explained.
In his words, ‘I am against’ initiative should become familiar with the draft prior to its submission to the parliament in order to understand ‘whether or not the draft corresponds to the initiative’s demands”.
“If the government really wants to meet citizens halfway in this matter, it will do it as soon as possible,” Manukian noted. In his opinion, the decision of the Constitutional Court of Armenia should be executed by suspending illegal deductions of compulsory pension contributions.
