Armen Yeritsian comments on OEK withdrawal from coalition
During a meeting with reporters today, Armenian Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsian commented on his decision to quit Orinats Yerkir Party (OEK).
“I was first deputy chief of the Armenian Police when I received an invitation from OEK Party and was nominated as minister of emergency situations. I knew that I would work with President Serzh Sargsyan, but OEK Party decided not to enter the coalition, while I took a decision that I cannot go into opposition,” Yeritsian said.
The minister noted that he was given the opportunity to work in the executive body and will continue doing his job.
Asked why OEK Party left the coalition, Yeritsian replied that he does not know as he didn’t participate in the consultation. According to him, the ministers of agriculture and urban development, who also quitted OEK Party, had discussed together their withdrawal from the party.
Asked whether it is true that OEK Party left the coalition because OEK leader Arthur Baghdasarian was not appointed as prime minister, Armen Yeritisian said he has no idea as he did not attend the sitting of OEK Party.
