Aram I responds to Erdogan: It was Genocide committed by your ancestors
Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia Aram I has commented on the statement that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan made in connection with the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.
“We read the Turkish prime minister’s statement made on the eve of the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. The fabrication of historical facts cannot overcome the indisputable truth. What happened in Turkey in 1915 was not a result of the events that took place because of war, Mr. Prime Minister, but it was Genocide of the Armenians – in the political and legal sense of this word. It was Genocide organized and committed by your ancestors – Talaat Pasha and Enver Pasha. Therefore, the Armenian people expect not condolences and admonitions from Turkey, but recognition of the Armenian Genocide and compensation,” Catholicos Aram I said.
