Yerevan deputy mayor: 2 million sq. meters to be paved with asphalt
During the press conference in Yerevan municipality today, First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan spoke about construction and improvement work done, in particular about large-scale road construction programs, including the construction of a new expressway linking Leningradian Street with Isakov Avenue. The highway was put into operation in May.
He said that road construction programs are being implemented simultaneously in several parts of the city under the credit program of Asian Development Bank, including construction work on a 1.3 km section from Labor Square to Shirak Street. Preparatory work was done to launch a new project of reconstructing a former railway bridge into a pedestrian crossing.
As regards asphalt paving work in city streets, yards and sidewalks, Kamo Areyan said this year it is planned to pave about 2 million square meters with asphalt. According to him, repairs have already begun in 20 of the 32 streets.
