Today is a memorial day following Transfiguration feast
Yesterday the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ and today a memorial day for the departed by death.
Today is a non-working day in Armenia.
On June 26, 2008, the Armenian government took a decision, in accordance with the Article 17 of the Law on Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations, to designate the days following each of the five Cardinal Feasts in the Armenian Apostolic Church as memorial days.
The five Cardinal Feasts are Christmas, Easter, Transfiguration (Vardavar), Assumption of Saint Mary, and Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
