Papyan: Sargsyan should revoke Armenian-Turkish protocols
The Armenian Genocide centennial is a propitious occasion for the Armenians to voice political issues, the head of Modus Vivendi Center Ara Papyan told reporters today.
“Yet the Genocide centennial seems to have been limited to the organization of some events and conferences and we are straying from political demands,” Papyan said.
He called on Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to declare the Armenian-Turkish protocols invalid.
“Armenia should also state that it is the legal successor of the First Republic of Armenia and not the Armenian SSR, which will afford a ground for the de-occupation of Armenian territories,” Papyan said.
According to him, Armenia should declare at the highest level that Turkey violated its rights and occupied a considerable part of Armenian territories.
“Turkey should not just apologize. This is not sufficient as a grave crime was committed and the aggrieved party – Armenia and the Armenian people – should get an adequate compensation,” Papyan said.
