Vardanyan: We against raising issue of constitutional reforms at rally
ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Party believes that demands for cancelation of the constitutional reforms should not be made at the joint rally of non-government parliamentary forces, the secretary of ARFD parliamentary faction Aghvan Vardanyan told reporters today.
“Our colleagues should clarify what demands should be made to the authorities. Opinions are expressed about the change of power, but they cannot decide how to do it. There was talk about escalation and street protests like in 2008, but everybody also supports peaceful development, and the government’s resignation is non-topical at the same time,” Vardanyan stressed.
When asked why the three other non-government political forces did not wait until October 15 (the day when a package of constitutional reforms is expected to be ready) so as to organize a joint rally, Aghvan Vardanyan said that they failed to reach an agreement over this issue with the three other parties.
“Our colleagues declared that they have no intention of bypassing the subject of constitutional reforms and that it is no use postponing the rally, while we cannot participate in that rally,” A. Vardanyan said.
