Shirinyan: We need to change political culture, not political system
The constitutional reforms distort reality. Political scientist Levon Shirinyan expressed this opinion at a meeting with reporters today.
The upcoming joint rally of four non-government parties aims to make Armenia’s political scene more active, he said. ‘The joint rally aims to get the 12-clause demands moving”, according to Shirinyan.
There is no need to implement constitutional reforms today, the political scientist noted, adding that he considers it necessary to reform the old concept instead of developing a new one.
“We have no system. The current Constitution of Armenia is good, but a good car requires care, repairs and checkout. We need to change the political culture rather than the political system,” he said.
According to L. Shirinyan, the problem of Armenia is not related to constitutional reforms, but it lies in the political polarization whose leaders are two political forces – Republican Party of Armenia and Prosperous Armenia Party.
