Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan awarded Hero of Artsakh title
President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan attended on September 28 the festive events held in Gandzasar Monastery Complex to mark the 25th anniversary of the re-creation of Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the press service of the NKR President’s Office reported.
At the event the president of NKR presented the Golden Eagle Order to the Primate of Artsakh Diocese Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan who was awarded the highest title Hero of Artsakh.
In his speech Bako Sahakyan said that the Church plays an important role in the life of the Armenian people and Artsakh and without the Church it would be impossible to retain the national identity and traditions and achieve victories.
President Sahakyan described Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan as a prominent religious and public figure, one of those symbolizing Artsakh who continue the heroic cause of great leaders of the heroic Gandzasar.
Among the event participants were Speaker of the NKR’s National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan, Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan, other officials, guests from Armenia and abroad.
