Representatives of SMEs stage protest outside Armenian parliament
Representatives of small and medium businesses staged another protest outside the Armenian parliament today. They gathered near the parliament entrance on Demirchian Street. Ministers and government members approaching the parliament building tried to avoid both reporters and protesters.
As was reported earlier, the four non-coalition parliamentary factions discussed the Law on Turnover Tax at a consultation conducted by the parliament speaker Galust Sahakyan. They decided to hold another meeting in the National Assembly, this time with government members responsible for the sphere.
Law enforcers cordoned off the area. They prevented protesters from approaching the government members and also obstructed journalists doing their work. Yet the demonstrators managed to ask the deputies and ministers going past why they boycott special sittings of the parliament. Their questions were left unanswered.
By the way, some unknown people told protesters during the action that a group called “Suspension of the Law” opened a Facebook page where representatives of SMEs can post their complaints.
Besides, young “Facebook activists” were caught on camera of the correspondent of Aysor.am when saying that protesters should not shout “Shame” at government members and ask them why they boycott special sittings of the National Assembly.
