Galust Sahakyan: Unfortunately nobody expresses intention to be scientist
The process of a change of power has not yet begun in Armenia as the three political forces have completely different ideas of the internal political life and different principles, the Armenian parliament’s speaker, representative of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Galust Sahakyan said during a briefing in the National Assembly today.
Commenting on a remark that the October 10 rally of the trio of non-pro-government parliamentary forces was a mass event, Sahakyan replied: “Yes, it was a mass rally, but nothing has changed in terms of quality. Yes, there are problems in society and people attend rallies. The positive aspect is that the organizers admitted themselves that they did not encounter any obstacles to holding the rally”.
As for the statement of Prosperous Armenia Party’s (BHK) leader Gagik Tsarukyan about the possibility of his running in the presidential election, G. Sahakyan noted: “We all, the whole nation is full of plans to become someone in this life – a president, or prime minister, or minister. It is to be regretted that nobody expresses an intention to become a scientist, especially as we are proceeding along the path of scientific development as our country’s strength is conditioned by that”.
In response to a remark that Syunik province governor Suren Khachatryan became a scientist, but nothing has changed, G. Sahakyan said: “People do not become scientists in this way. At first one should defend a doctoral thesis”.
