R. Hakobyan: Authorities should abandon image of conceited peacock
“Our approach consists in achieving a result, and we don’t believe slogans anymore,” the head of Heritage faction Ruben Hakobyan said during a briefing in the Armenian parliament today following a regular working discussion of the three non-coalition parliamentary forces.
Discussing the 12 points submitted to the authorities by the non-coalition forces and the signature campaign initiated by them, the deputy said that the trio did not expect such a response to their demands to the authorities.
“We had an agreement with ARF-Dashnaktsutyun regarding 12 points, but the agreement failed, which is blameworthy, but also understandable and logical,” he noted.
In response to a journalist’s remark that the trio is being accused of conducting negotiations with the authorities, Ruben Hakobyan said: “We are not conducting negotiations. I am unaware of such negotiations, although I don’t see anything wrong in this. Even if we conducted negotiations, it would not mean a violation of the principles of parliamentarianism. Negotiations are also a parliamentary culture. The authorities do not realize yet what is going on in Armenia, but we came here not to make enemies, but in order to think how we can get the country back on its feet. The authorities need to abandon the image of a conceited peacock and make an adequate assessment of what is going on. If such an assessment is voiced under pressure of the people, I will be very satisfied”.
