German ambassador hopes for progress in Armenian-Turkish relations
What we achieved after the World Wars is the result of great efforts and considerable work. Today we hold events, which honor the memory of the victims of World War I and demonstrate that there is an opportunity to sink an old feud,” German Ambassador to Armenia Reiner Morell told reporters today, when asked if Turkey’s foreign policy raises concerns.
“All that we have achieved – despite some resistance – showed that this is possible, that it is necessary to apologize and find ways of reconciliation,” the ambassador said, expressing hope that in the coming years Turkey will consider that issue.
Reiner Morell added that there have been positive changes in Turkish society, in other words, there is hope for progress.
