Armenian prime minister receives US ambassador John Heffern
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern, according to the press office of the government.
The prime minister attached importance to continuous efficient cooperation with the U.S. and the promotion and deepening of bilateral ties.
The sides considered the prime minister’s visit to the United States as successful. In particular, Hovik Abrahamyan said the ongoing cooperation was highly appreciated during his meetings with heads of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the International Finance Corporation. Representatives of international financial institutions had expressed satisfaction with the reforms carried out by the Armenian government in various spheres and stated their willingness to continue assistance in that direction.
Then the prime minister and U.S. ambassador discussed further bilateral cooperation. Hovik Abrahamyan presented the programs launched by the government in a number of key spheres, which will enable to improve the business environment, attract foreign investment and ensure economic growth. John Heffern expressed hope that Armenia’s economic growth rate will be maintained. He welcomed the policy implemented for this purpose.
The ambassador appreciated the steps aimed at community development, transparency and accountability of governance, and development of an anti-corruption strategy. He reaffirmed the United States’ readiness to continue assisting the Armenian government with reform implementation.
