OEK Party initiatives changes to Electoral Code of Armenia
At the initiative of Orinats Yerkir Party (OEK), four factions of the Armenian parliament will set up a working group to make changes to the Electoral Code and shift to a 100% proportional system, OEK faction deputy Hovhannes Margaryan told reporters today.
“100% proportional electoral system should form a basis. The working group will hold its first sitting on Mondays,’ Margaryan said.
In his words, among the participants will be deputies of Prosperous Armenia (BHK), Heritage, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun factions, while Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) and Armenian National Congress (HAK) factions will not participate.
“I am optimistic and believe that joint approaches will help us achieve success and make changes to the Electoral Code of Armenia”, the deputy noted.
In response to a question about the possibility of OEK’s further cooperation with the trio of non-pro-government parliamentary parties, H. Margaryan replied: “Cooperation is possible only with those political forces that share our principles”.
