Armenian president, new Belgian ambassador discuss cooperation prospects
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today the newly-appointed Belgian Ambassador to Armenia Alex van Meuwen (diplomatic residence in Moscow) who presented copies of his credentials, the presidential press service said.
Sezh Sargsyan congratulated the ambassador on the start of his diplomatic mission in Armenia and wished him success. He also congratulated the diplomat on the formation of a new coalition government and the appointment of a prime minister in Belgium, expressing hope that the government will do everything to enhance the international reputation and promote wellbeing of the nation.
The sides underscored the importance of strengthening of Armenian-Belgian interstate relations and development of cooperation.
President Sargsyan stated that Armenia attaches importance to relations with Belgium not only in the bilateral format, but also as cooperation in European structures. In this context the sides addressed the prospects of developing Armenia-EU relations.
Ambassador van Meuwen said that during his mission he will do everything for the strengthening and deepening of bilateral ties.
