Armenian president receives delegation led by Russian health minister
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today a delegation of Russian Health Ministry led by Minister Veronika Skvortsova who arrived in Armenia to attend the first Armenian-Russian conference on healthcare problems, according to the presidential press service.
The president welcomed the guests, noting the importance of the conference and expressing hope that it will be fruitful and useful to both sides.
In his words, the event will lay the foundation of a new cooperation format in healthcare and further promote the strategic cooperation of Armenia and Russia.
The president said that the healthcare sector faces numerous problems related to every person and every aspects of the socioeconomic life of countries and their populations, and these problems have no borders so joint efforts of all the states are needed to resolve them. The best evidence is the Ebola virus outbreak that became a challenge not only to Africa.
The Russian health minister agreed that there are numerous healthcare problems in the world and joint efforts and an exchange of information and expertise are necessary to deal with them.
On behalf of the Russian delegation, Veronika Skvortsova thanked Serzh Sargsyan for the reception and his constant attention to healthcare problems. She said that during the visit, close contacts were established with Armenian Health Ministry and leading professors of Yerevan State Medical University and an agreement was reached to continue and deepen bilateral cooperation in healthcare.
